I would like to share my story about my experience at Aspen Camp.
When I went to Aspen Camp in summer 1992 as my first year because I grew up in the hearing family and I am only Deaf person. The reason why I want to go to Aspen Camp is because I want to have fun at camp and meet new friends from out of states so I can get away from home for 2 weeks.
I learned new things about camp and participate in different activities and the evening program so I don't have to be get bored at home all the summer and no summer activities. Aspen Camp change my life because of my identity as Deaf person and I have been left out from my family all my life until Aspen Camp impacts me when I arrived there.
If not for Aspen Camp, I would be feeling isolated and never having a good time with my family in Pagosa Springs all the summer. That is why Aspen Camp is very important for our future campers to learn new things, learn more about other kids and have fun plus make lots of new friends while staying at camp.
I did make some new friends while I was staying at Aspen Camp for 2 weeks and I already fell in love with it after about the first week of camp in 1992. I went there for 6 years bit I missed 3 summers from 1994 to 1996 which I should have been there for 9 straight years. But I am glad I did attend Aspen Camp until 2000.
I strongly encourage our future campers to attend to Aspen Camp so it will help youth campers experience their camp life so they can share their experiences about Aspen Camp with other kids from school.
