Counselors-In-Training (CITs)
Summer sessions offers past campers, young adults and Children of Deaf Adults (CODA) ages 17-19 with opportunities to develop self-esteem and confidence through educational and leadership experiences; preparing them to become the future leaders of our camp and of their communities.
CITs will assist with activities and youth supervision while enjoying programs and being a role model to others. Pay or fees are based on your level of experience with Aspen Camp.
- 1st Year: CIT pays program fees of $200 per week
- 2nd Year: CIT joins Aspen Camp for free and do not get paid
- 3rd Year: CIT gets paid $125 per week
CITs must attend Aspen Camp for a minimun for two weeks although we would prefer them to stay the whole summer. Scholarships are available to those who qualify. Please visit the scholarships page to find out more about qualifications and how to apply.

Expectations
- Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of younger campers in the cabins, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camp outcomes within safety guidelines.
- Participate in the implementation of program activities for campers through assisting and sometimes teaching.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
- Serve as a role model to campers and staff in appropriate attitude and behavior.
- Learn and demonstrate knowledge of new leadership skills.
- Use American Sign Language.
Qualifications
- Must be between 17 to 19 years old.
- Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of camp.
- Ability to interact with all age levels.
- Use American Sign Language.

To Apply
The process for CITs is a concept hybriding camper registrations and job applications. We do this so that CITs can get some practice with the job application and interview process and develop confidence in presenting their skills. The process includes:
- Qualified applications fill out the program registration form and send it to info@aspencamp.org along with a resume. Have three references send a letter of recommendation to Aspen Camp via email or snail mail.
- Aspen Camp will screen all applications and contact applicants who are chosen for interviews. Those chosen will be interviewed.
- Aspen Camp will announce accepted applicants.
- CITs come to Aspen Camp for training and a fun time!
